A black-tie event, the annual WVU Medicine Children's Gala will take place on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020. The Gala, now in its 17th year, includes a cocktail reception, silent auction, live entertainment, and dinner. The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception. During this time, guests will have the opportunity to bid on many wonderful auction items. The WVU Medicine Children's program will be followed by dinner and a live auction. The evening will be topped off by spectacular live entertainment.
Two time Pro Bowl NFL Linebacker, Ryan Shazier, has remained on the Pittsburgh Steelers roster since he was selected 15th overall by the organization in 2014. Shazier became the first Steeler since 2006-08 to record an INT in back-to-back playoff games and the first to record an INT in consecutive postseason games since 1998. Known for his positivity and toughness on and off the field, Ryan’s resilience is inspiring as he continues to make progress after suffering a spinal injury during a game versus the Bengals in December 2017. Committed to giving back to others, Ryan recently founded The Shalieve Fight Foundation dedicated to optimizing neurological recovery and empowering wellness for individuals with spinal cord injuries. Throughout his career, Ryan continues to use his platform to raise awareness for those in need with a focus on his work with the National Alopecia Foundation in efforts to help support kids suffering from the autoimmune disease he has had since childhood. Family is everything to Ryan and his wife, Michelle. Ryan is a proud father of two boys- Ryan aka “RJ” and Lyon.
